Our story
A small-batch bakery in Wilson, NC — where we grew up, and where every loaf still feels like home.
Back Roads Bread Co started with a simple idea: good bread, made honestly, for the people right around us. We set up shop in the Shoppes of Brentwood in Wilson — our hometown — because this is where our roots are and where we wanted to bake.
Everything we make is small batch. We laminate croissants by hand, slow-ferment our sourdough for a deep flavor and an open crumb, and bake in limited runs each morning. When a batch sells out, that's it until tomorrow — and we like it that way. It keeps everything fresh and every day a little different.
We lean on local ingredients and keep things straightforward. No fluff, no shortcuts — just careful, handmade baking and a case full of things we're proud to hand across the counter. Croissants and babka, focaccia and sourdough, sweet rolls and the odd special that only shows up on certain days of the week.
Come by Tuesday through Saturday. Grab a few pastries on your way through, take home a loaf, or pre-order something bigger for a gathering. Whatever brings you in, there's a warm welcome waiting for you.
